Last competition round tomorrow

31 Aug 2018 by Brian Groughan

Tomorrow marks the last competition round of the 2018 season, the club has had some great things happen throughout the season and placed some very sturdy building blocks for next season, as we continue to strive to regain a formidably strong club, we are on the rise.
Player numbers and recruitments have been strong in both the men’s and women’s teams and who will ever forget the epic of all epics, Samson and Goliath sort of, with a convincing win in the rain soaked Richard Crook Field against the previous year’s premiership winning team and until then undefeated this season v the minnows of recent years but never in heart and never we will feel that way. We’ll always shape up to anyone team and give it our best with a never say die attitude.
Our first win for ages and also the men’s first win on the renamed Richard Crook Field. The women’s team felt the glory of winning in their first game of the season and then had a couple of losses until they got back on track and to maintain a steady rate of wins throughout, which has put them in a creditable 3rd place and into the finals series of games coming up.
I thank and congratulate every player who has had a game with the club this year and hope we can have you all return next season also to the many people who have unselfishly given up their time and to the coaches giving their all in the betterment of players. The committee is strong and have worked well together and setting some achievable goals to work with in the coming seasons.
We are having a sponsors day tomorrow to thank them for supporting the club without you we could not survive so thank you all very much and we hope we have met you expectations.
To the supporters it is so good to look around the field when the game begins to see so many familiar faces and some new as well, the same goes to our supporters helping the club along it is appreciated more than you might think.
So we hope to see the many people that have been cheering us on through thick and thin for our last home this year and give our players a boost in this last round game and then to follow the women in their chase for premiership glory.
